FRANKFORD – The Sussex Stags are halfway home. And in this case, home is the Empire Football League playoffs.

Home could also mean a league championship if Saturday night's 27-6 victory over the Plattsburgh Northstars was any indication.

With continued defensive dominance and an offense that appears to be coming around, the Stags vanquished Plattsburgh, the defending EFL champion, at Skylands Stadium. Sussex improved to 4-1 at the regular season's halfway point, and stayed tied for first place with the Watertown Red and Black, while knocking the Northstars out of what had been a three-way tie for the top spot.
