Clanton, Syracuse silence North Stars in home opener

PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh North Stars welcomed the Syracuse Strong for their home opener Saturday at Melissa L. Penfield Park, and the Strong were not kind guests.

Syracuse, the defending Empire Football League champions, took control of the game in the second quarter and didn’t look back, defeating the North Stars 51-0.

Coming into the matchup, Plattsburgh coach Russell Humphrey said the North Stars expected the Strong to display a strong passing and running attack and believed the way his team handled its opponents’ offensive approach would be an important factor that would determine the game’s winner.
