UTICA — As a joke, Utica Yard Dogs head Frank Palmisano used to call his running back trio “I, Me and My.”
Since then, Thomas R. Proctor High School grads Ron Pierce Jr., Lawrence Elliott and J’von Evans have proven to be worthy of another nickname — Earth, Wind and Fire.
The first-place semipro football team likes the comparison. Palmisano thinks the moniker of his running backs — named after the popular Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band — fits well because it identifies them as one group.
